Ohio is taking a lead among states in offering a Literacy Specialist Endorsement as a new credential for professionals. While called the literacy specialist endorsement, the program trains teachers to become literacy coaches. This is a combined effort of seven universities in Ohio. The program began in 2006. It is quite interesting to look at the program design which meets IRA standards.
