This is a valuable self-assessment for middle and high school literacy coaches. It was developed by a panel of adolescent literacy experts under the direction of IRA. The funding for this effort was provided by Carnegie. It is meant to be a companion document to the Standards for MS/HS Literacy Coaches. The self-assessments can help coaches see areas that they need to work on. It can be useful in helping districts plan support that they need to offer to MS/HS literacy coaches so that they can do their jobs even more effectively. You would not have to use all of the self-assessment at once. It could be broken down into sections that were filled out and discussed.
