Tools for use by Literacy Coaches, Reading Coaches, or Instructional Coaches

The work of literacy coaches, reading coaches, and/or instructional coaches can become more efficient through the use of helpful tools. Rather than call these items “tools,” others may call them “forms” or “job aids.”  Besides helping coaches do their jobs more easily, tools can help coaches reflect more deeply on their work and come to new insights that enhance the quality of their efforts. The sharing of information from tools can also foster communication with other coaches, administrators, or teachers themselves. Such communication can help everyone examine whether a school’s or district’s agreed-upon literacy goals are being met through the best possible means.

Below are the coach tools that have been submitted and peer reviewed by members of the LCC Advisory Board for placement in the website. We are hopeful that you, too, will submit a tool that you have developed and used in your school or district. We hope that this section of the website can become an exciting collaborative effort by coaches from many different regions, levels and types of schools.
